CROWN POINT -- He just wanted his keys.
Instead, Aaron A. Stewart, 33, of Gary, was arrested Saturday and charged with felony battery and disorderly conduct after officials said he used profanity, threatened to blow up a police station and resisted arrest.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Stewart walked into the Gary police station on Polk Street wanting to retrieve his property confiscated during an earlier arrest. He was told it would be a moment because staff were processing prisoners.
"Man, you'd better give me my (expletive) property before I blow this (expletive) up," Stewart replied.
The officer told Stewart to be quiet and leave the lobby because of the profanity.
Again using foul language, Stewart said he was going nowhere without his keys.
The officer told Stewart he was under arrest and started walking him to jail when Stewart whirled around and punched the officer in the forehead, knocking him to the floor, the affidavit stated.
Stewart then jumped on the officer, scratching him about the head, neck and face. He also grabbed the officer's groin until another officer and a civilian pulled him off, the affidavit said.
