Public invited to Borman Expressway meeting
The public is invited to attend an open house and public information meeting to discuss plans for the upcoming construction season on the Borman Expressway. Speak with Indiana Department of Transportation and contractor representatives about the project on Thursday at Highland High School, 9135 Erie St., Hammond.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. View maps and come away with handouts regarding ramp and lane closures. A video presentation will run continuously. At 7 p.m., the INDOT will conduct a short meeting to summarize the project.
Citizens honored by Munster Chamber
Citizens Financial Services was recently honored at the Munster Chamber of Commerce annual banquet and received awards for 70 years in business and 30 years as a member of the chamber.
Accepting the awards on behalf of Citizens were Thomas F. Prisby, Elizabeth DeBolt, Janice S. Dobrinich, Julie Lavin and Peter J. Doherty.

Workshop focuses on revitalizing commercial districts
Economic development professionals and others interested in learning about commercial district revitalization are invited to attend Indiana Main Street 101: An Introduction to Commercial Revitalization presented by Indiana Main Street, a division of the Indiana Department of Commerce.
The workshop will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Feb. 22 at the office of the Downtown Hammond Council, 5246 Hohman Ave., in the lower level conference room.
Attendees will learn about the Main Street Four Point Approach, the National Main Street Center's method of revitalizing commercial districts, a method being implemented by more than 1,800 communities nationwide. Find out how the program can be utilized in a local grassroots initiative to form a dynamic, comprehensive revitalization program appropriate for traditional commercial districts.
The program also offers information of interest for chambers of commerce, urban planners, business organizations, and community development corporation directors.
