Last time Jodan Knight, of New Kids on the Block fame, was in the area, it was for a House of Blues concert in Chicago late last year. Well, Knight has more reason to make it to our region more often. Crown Point attorney Donald W. Wruck III has signed on to assist Knight with legal representation for concert gig contracts and other matters. Better yet, Knight and another artist, Justin James, stopped through Crown Point last Friday before heading to a weekend performance in Indianapolis. While visiting, the singing duo decided to checkout the local talent at Kelly O'Lou's pub in downtown Crown Point and stayed until 11 p.m., when the local band invited Knight to sing. After five songs, which resulted in a noise ordinance violation, Knight now has a new idea he's pitching to VH1 for a new program where famous artists play, unannounced in small local venues with local bands.
A great gift
Comedian Ellen DeGeneres filled her talk show audience for last Friday's taping entirely with mothers, telling them to bring a two-day overnight bag since one lucky lady would win a weekend in Las Vegas. To the audience's surprise, DeGeneres bused the entire audience of moms to Sin City for the weekend, all expenses paid.

Gary Coleman, who made it big on "Different Strokes," is now the celebrity spokesman for www.cashcall.com, which uses the slogan "Loans that fit your lifestyle."
