Bill Cosby. Alex Rodriguez. Brad Pitt. Michael Jordan. President Clinton. Jackie Joyner-Kersee. Martin Sheen. Derek Jeter. Neil Diamond. And, Denzel Washington.. What do all of these people, and millions more throughout America, have in common? They are all alumni of Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
While many Club alumni have achieved particular distinction in fields such as entertainment, business, politics and sports, the average alumnus is not famous. Most have achieved success by getting an education, raising a family, serving their country, pursuing a career or supporting the community.
Are you a Boys & Girls Club Alum who lives in Porter County or who visits here? Whether you belonged to the "Boys Club" or the "Boys & Girls Club," we are delighted that you still remember, THE Positive Place For Kids or perhaps The Place that Beats the Streets.
The clubs have changed in many ways over the years and still truly offer a place of hope and opportunity for all kids, male and female. Moreover, today's clubs emphasize educational achievement and career preparation in addition to the sports, recreation, leadership and character development programs that have been the hallmark of the clubs for more than a century.
As Boys & Girls Club alumni, you surely have stories to share and memories to pass on to us. There are numerous ways to get involved with today's Clubs and help the kids of today by giving back to the club that once helped you. Let us know where you are and what you have been doing since your club days! Reconnect with fellow club members.
There are numerous ways you as an alumnus can get involved with today's club - and help the kids of today by giving back to the club that helped you. Board volunteers, staff volunteers, donors, tutors, coaches - all are needed as the clubs continue to expand and reach out to more kids in need.
It seems whenever you talk to former members, you hear the same thoughts and reflections about the experience repeated again and again. Somehow there was something special, almost magical about those years. The club was a unique place that, in the minds of many alumni, has come to represent all that was good about childhood and growing up.
So the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County is inviting alumni of any Boys Clubs or Boys & Girls Clubs who now reside in or around Porter County to "Come On Home". We welcome you to come and visit any of the branches in the area and share your stories and memories.
We also invite you to become a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County Alumni Association. We need you to help us fulfill the mission of service to today's youth. There are many opportunities for you to consider. We look forward to seeing you soon and creating new memories for you and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County.
