GRIFFITH -- U.S. Rep. Peter Visclosky, D-Ind., is scheduled to visit Griffith at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to discuss with town officials efforts to recover from a storm that damaged 300 homes early this week.

Wind from a tornado peeled off roofs and siding and tumbled decades-old trees onto homes and cars late Monday and early Tuesday morning.

Jacob Ritvo, a spokesman for Visclosky, said the congressman will tour the damaged area with local leaders. There is no town meeting scheduled.

" Just curious where Barack was. All those homes destroyed and he didn't even bother to come anywhere near the tornado damaged towns(including but not limited to Griffith ) to give some moral support or even offer to help lift a tree or roof shingles off the ground.

He was in Indiana wasn't he?? At a Schoops?? Could stop for a burger but not to pass out a few bottles of water or lend a helping hand.

Really sad. And they attacked Bush after Katrina(no i'm not a bush supporter) but really folks look at the simliarity here in this "particular" situation.

Who is this Pete you speak of by the way? "

" If Visclosky was worth his salt, he would be in Washington correcting a misguided Energy effort by sitting in the Halls of Congress. Democrats are unwilling to correct a problem and make more with turning their backs on conceived children through abortion. They deny the right of children to be born and have the freedom to live. This pox is greater than any tornado. Go do your job Visclosky, you aren't of any help here. "

" Mr. Pete is coming here to see the tornado damage. Maybe we should tell him to get his butt back to Washington and vote for the drilling bill. "

" Not to diminsh anything that the people of Griffith experienced, but I live in the Wicker Park area and the devistation is the worst I have seen in 35 yrs and without power our basements flooded and we lost all our food. Please look into the other areas. "
