LYNWOOD | Police are looking for a man accused of stealing gasoline and dragging a gas station employee on his way out of the parking lot.
A man stole $68.15 worth of gas Tuesday from the Citgo station at 2398 Glenwood-Dyer Road, Lynwood Police Chief Russell Pearson said.
The man gave a credit card to the employee and started pumping gas. When she told him the card had been denied, he gave her a second card, which also was denied. It's likely the cards were stolen, Pearson said.
"She attempted to stop him," Pearson said. "She made the mistake of grabbing the door handle and was dragged to the end of the parking lot."
The employee was dragged about 25 feet, but she didn't seem to be injured, he said. She must have run alongside the vehicle, he said.
"She said she didn't want to see a doctor," Pearson said. "She was up and around when we got there."
Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect, he said.
The suspect was described as a black man wearing a red T-shirt and jeans, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 200 pounds, Pearson said. The suspect drove a white or silver Chevrolet Impala.
