CHICAGO HEIGHTS
SummerFest activities include a parade today
As part of the city's SummerFest this weekend, a parade starts at 11 a.m. today at Marian Catholic High School, 700 Ashland Ave., Chicago Heights.
Parade participants will head east on Joe Orr Road, continue past Olympia Plaza, head south on Chicago Road and continue to the festival grounds at 10th Street.
Hours for the festival, which began Friday, are noon to midnight today and 2 p.m. to midnight Sunday. Festivities Sunday include a fireworks show at 9 p.m.
CALUMET CITY
Golfers have shot to win a car at chamber event
Calumet City Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual golf outing at noon Sept. 19 at River Oaks (Billy Casper) Golf Course.
Groups will compete in a "best ball" format for prizes. Each golfer also will have a chance to win a car and other prizes. Golf, lunch and door prizes will cost $75 per golfer.

HAMMOND
Three tenors step up to mike for symphony gala
Indiana University Northwest, in partnership with South Shore Arts and the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra, will present "Pavarotti Forever," the opening concert gala for the 2008-09 symphony season.
The gala will take place at 6 p.m. Sept. 26 at Horseshoe Casino Hammond's The Venue. The event will feature Pavarotti-inspired performances by three tenors from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
The evening begins with a feast of Italian dishes and champagne. Tickets are available starting at $175. Table reservations for 10 and premium tickets with preferred seating and program recognition also are available. Concert-only tickets cost $20 to $60. Attendance is restricted to guests 21 and older.

SAUK VILLAGE
Family Festival comes to village next month
This year’s annual Sauk Village Family Festival is planned for Sept. 12 to 14 at 1771 Sauk Trail, at the corners of Sauk Trail and Jeffrey Avenue, and will include a carnival, beer garden, entertainment and multiple food vendors.

DOLTON
Center seeks donations to foster independence
New Hope Center, 1624 E. 154th St., raises funds to help people with developmental disabilities become more independent, gain authority over their lives and improve the quality of their lives.
Monetary donations are welcome as are the following items: old magazines; craft items; used printer cartridges; clothing items or gift certificates for clothing; used vehicles such as cars, RVs or boats; and inactive cellular phones.
