The Crete Park District has begun taking reservations for the 2009 rental season. At this time, only residents may apply. Calendars will open to everyone on Nov. 1. The policy change was made to be sure the taxpayers in Crete receive first dibs at the rental spaces their taxes support.
Various facilities are available for parties, showers, business meetings and outside gatherings.
Located inside the Willard Wood Park Center, 515 First St. in Crete, is Easterday Hall which resembles an old fashioned log cabin with a beautiful fireplace. The hall is rented on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, when not in use for Park District programs.
The room is fully accessible and can hold business meetings, family gatherings, showers or parties. The kitchen with refrigerator, freezer, microwave and a professional coffee maker is also included with rental. The maximum capacity of the room is 100 and tables and chairs are included in rental.
The building is owned by the Crete Park District and therefore residents receive a discount on their rental and have priority. The fee for rental is $50 per hour. Resident Discount Rate is $35 per hour. There is a minimum four-hour rental time slot. Additional fees are charged if alcohol will be in the building. A $150 security deposit will hold spots on the calendar. If the building is returned to pre-rental condition, the $150 will be returned the following week.Call the office at (708)672-6969 to check on date availability. Renters must be 21 or older and have a valid drivers license to rent.)
Shelters are available in Crete Park, 515 First St. Crete Park has several playground pieces, a sled hill, tennis courts, and the south shelter has a fireplace. Nestled among more than 200, shelters are rented every day when not in use for park programs. Fee is $75 for the day, resident fee is $50.
