PASTOR RETIRES | Merrillville

Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church gathered Oct. 4 to wish Pastor Gerard Isenberg and his wife, Sue, a blessed and fulfilling retirement after his 44 years of service to the church and approximately 50 years in ministry. A catered dinner was attended by more than 125, and the adult choir of the church entertained. Their finale was "Thank You" by Ray Boltz. Several speakers shares their experiences and memories of the pastor and a gift was presented by Dr. Brian Thompson, president of the congregation.

CONNECT WITH GOD | Munster

New Community: Connect with God, led by Cindy Merritt will be held at 9 a.m. Sundays, Oct. 19 to Nov. 23, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 8955 Columbia Ave.

75TH ANNIVERSARY | Hammond

Church of God Prophecy, organized in October, 1933, will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a 6 p.m. service Oct. 25 and a 10 a.m. service Oct. 26. The Sunday service will be followed with luncheon at the church, 6806 Missouri Ave. All are welcome.

TREATS FOR NEEDY | Winfield

Children of Holy Spirit Church, 7667 East 109th Ave., will be trick-or-treating for the needy Oct. 25. They will be collecting nonperishable food items to help fill holiday food baskets for the poor through St. Vincent de Paul, an organization that helps thousands across Northwest Indiana. Children, with parental supervision, are invited to wear their costumes when they trick or treat for the needy. Children should bring donations collected during Trick or Treat for the Needy to Holy Spirit Church’s 10 a.m. Mass on Oct. 26. When the children bring their donations, they will be given a trick or treat bag to participate in the church’s second annual “Trunk-or-Treat” event in the parking lot following Mass. Parishioners have been invited to distribute candy to the children.

ORGAN CONCERT | Gary

The Cathedral Arts Concert Series of the Cathedral of the Holy Angels, 7th Avenue at Tyler Street, presents its fall recital at 3 p.m. Oct. 26. The program will include music by Bach, Messiaen, and Duruflé, as well as settings of Mexican hymns by Dr. Ramirez and pieces by several Mexican composers. The organ, designed by Lawrence Phelps, was built in 1963-1964 by the Casavant company of Canada, opus 2769, two-manuals, thirty-three ranks. An offering will be accepted.

SEASONS OF GRIEF | Valparaiso

A five-part workshop, Seasons of Grief and Healing will be offered from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sundays, Oct. 26 to Nov. 23, in the parlor at Valparaiso Methodist Church, 103 Franklin St. In this series, a team of volunteer facilitators will provide education about the various stages of grief and address some of the common issues encountered during the grief process. There is no charge to attend but a companion book to go with the video resource is $4. Call to register.

INSTALLATION SET | Gary

True Foundation Ministries and Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International announce the official installation of Pastor Frederick M. Jackson Sr. as the state overseer of Indiana will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at West Side High School, 9th Avenue and Gerry Street. A Gary native and West Side graduate, Jackson has been in the ministry for 25 years and works with the Twenty-First Century Scholars program at Indiana University. Guest speaker will be Bishop Paul S. Morton, presiding prelate of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International. WIND SYMPHONY | Crown Point

The Concordia University Wind Symphony will perform at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 250 S Indiana Ave., as it embarks on its annual fall concert tour. The Wind Symphony is the premier instrumental ensemble at Concordia University in Chicago. This 55-member organization maintains an active performance schedule, having performed in schools churches, and concert halls, in 43 states, Canada, Eastern Europe, and most recently, China, where they will return in May. A variety of music in many forms and styles, programmed for wide audience appeal, will include works by Bach, Bancks, Gillingham, Hanssen, Rosauro, and Vaughan Williams. Admission is free, but a freewill offering will be received.

A Living Rosary and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will be held at 2 p.m.
