Kiwanis Golden K Club | Lansing
Kiwanis Golden K Club meets at 1:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Eisenhower Center. Retirees age 55 and older are welcome. The group holds fund-raisers to help local students and organizations. The club contributes to three high schools, Camp Quality for children with cancer, Twin Lakes Camp for children with handicaps, purchases books for kindergarteners, Key Club at Thornton Fractional South and more. Some group activities include sending gift packs to veterans, reading to students, collecting for the Salvation Army and more.

Bingo | Chicago

Eyeglass drive | Lansing
Carmine Vision Care, 3224 Ridge Road, is having a Gift of Sight donation drive through the end of the month. They are collecting used prescription eyeglasses and prescription and nonprescription sunglasses as part of a recycling program. The glasses will be cleaned and prepared for distribution in developing countries.

REMEMBRANCE TREES | Hammond, Munster
Burns-Kish Funeral Homes Inc. has created a new holiday tradition for the families they have served during 2008. Remembrance trees hung with porcelain snowflakes, each inscribed with an individuals name, are standing in the Burns-Kish lobbies in Hammond and Munster. Family members are invited to stop in before Jan. 10 to pick up the snowflake inscribed with the name of their loved one.

Latin fusion | Hammond
The Hammond Area YMCA is accepting participants for the new Latin Fusion fitness class. Classes run monthly on Friday nights. The cost will be $10 for members and $35 for nonmembers. Newcomers are welcome to join. Latin Fusion is a high-energy fitness class that combines Latin music and dance moves to create a workout that maximizes fat burning and body toning. Featured Latin dance styles include Cumbia, Bachata, Salsa, Merengue and Fusion. It is for ages 16 and older. The Hammond Area YMCA is at 7322 Southeastern Ave.

Prom dress collection | Hammond
Hammond Public Library's Main Library, 564 State St., serves as a collection site for gently used formal wear from Dec. 29 through Jan. 15

Twelfth Night | Whiting
The City of Whiting, the Whiting Parks Department and the Chamber of Commerce will be holding an annual Twelfth Night Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 6 in the lot adjacent to Whiting Park and 117th Street.

Rental space | Munster
Many facilities at the new Centennial Park in Munster are now available to rent. There are spaces for reunions, family get-togethers, weddings, showers, bar mitzvahs and more. Munster Parks and Recreation’s Centennial Park has two shelters, formal gardens, an entertainment stage and banquet facilities available to rent with soccer fields, playground, and dog park nearby.

ORCHESTRA AUDITIONS | Munster
Northwest Indiana Symphony Youth Orchestra is open to highly accomplished musicians by audition only. Spring auditions for the 2008-09 Season for all Strings, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, and Percussion will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 11.
