And this year, the Hammond-based PUC garnered two top awards in the "Best of..." contest - "Best College/University" and "Best Adult Educational Institution."

"Many of our adult students are here taking classes part-time and juggling family and full-time jobs. Without compromising the academic integrity of classes, our professors help students who make these sacrifices to earn degrees," says Wes Lukoshus, assistant vice chancellor for advancement. "Our faculty's doors are always open."

That spirit of "we're in this together" provides an atmosphere where students of all ages can succeed, he says.

In addition, the new requirements that all bachelor-degree students complete two courses in experiential learning have resulted in 100 new course or revised courses, Lukoshus says.
