As of just a few years ago, Star Productions has taken on producing full-scale regional theater productions of "High School Musical," "High School Musical 2," "Chicago," "Annie," and most recently, last year's presentation of "Hairspray."
"We always strive to provide A+ entertainment to the community, and our summer outreach musical theatre program is no exception," Charlie Blum, president and CEO of the Star Plaza Theatre for the last 23 years, said. "We are extremely appreciative of the support we receive from the community."
This summer theatre outreach program allows local area talent, in all aspects of theater, on stage and behind the scenes, to participate in a major production of a famed Broadway show - not to mention performing on the same stage as Jerry Seinfeld and ZZ Top. Plus, you never know who is going to stop in to see a rehearsal or assist with lines. Jay Leno surprised the cast of ‘High School Musical 2" and Micky Dolenz of The Monkees gave pointers to the cast of "Hairspray."
