Jimmy John's is all about using the freshest ingredients and providing fast efficient service, a company representative said. The representative describes Jimmy John's as "a quick, tasty, no gimmicks sandwich shop using only the best ingredients including real Hellman's Mayonnaise and Grey Poupon Mustard." Genuine French and seven-grain breads are freshly baked. Meats, cheese and vegetables are sliced fresh in house daily. Ingredients used at Jimmy John's contain no additives or vegetable-based fillers. Real turkey and roast beef are used.
The sandwich shop was founded in 1983 by 19-year-old Jimmy John Liautaud in Charleston, Illinois in a converted garage, quickly expanding to college towns across the Midwest and eventually becoming a national franchise. Jimmy John's has a system designed for quick delivery. "Subs so fast you'll freak!" is their mantra.
