Using the same recipes her mother taught her five decades or so ago, Angie Golom continues the culinary traditions of the Warsaw Inn, her family restaurant that first opened in 1972 and moved to its current location eight years later.

“My parents and I owned the restaurant back then,” says Golom. “It’s been 45 years and we still do many things like we always have. It’s all about consistency, good service and quality food. We still make our pierogi by hand, our sausages are made in-house from scratch, we have great stuffed cabbage, and the sauerkraut—oh, the sauerkraut is wonderful. People who haven’t been here for 15 years can walk in and find everything is the same.”

But most people don’t wait that long to return. Golom says they have generational customers, parents who came in with their children and now those children, all grown, return with their kids.

“I have the best staff in the world and many of them have been here for a long time, too,” she says. “Our main chef has worked here for more than 20 years and we have other staff who have been here just as long, if not longer.”

Describing herself as absolutely delighted with being voted Best of the Region, Golom says that everyone is so grateful. “It’s a wonderful, wonderful honor,” she says. “I want to say thank you to everyone for it.”
