With two floors of fantastic dining overlooking a beautiful landscape on the beautiful shores of Cedar Lake, The Lighthouse Restaurant is the best steakhouse in the region. The first floor is a full-service restaurant with seating for up to 250 and bar; the second floor is a private dining facility for weddings, showers, birthdays, and corporate events, equipped with a wood dance floor surrounded by windows. The design of the two floors gives guests on each floor the ultimate in privacy with exceptionally sound-proofed construction. But the appeal of The Lighthouse is more than just the beautiful environment and facility; it is also all about the steaks.

Suzanne Shanks, office manager for The Lighthouse Restaurants says the difference is in how they cook their steaks. “It’s the way we prepare them, as well as the quality of the meat we use. We prepare our steaks, which come from David’s Creek in Middlebury, Indiana, using just a basic seasoning in a very high-temperature broiler. It sears the steak to perfection. Then we serve it on a sizzling 500 degree platter which really makes for a great presentation and adds to the juicy flavor,” says Shanks.

Chef Ken McRae comes to the Lighthouse Restaurant with more than 25 years of culinary experience. He says his menu consists of only the freshest ingredients and bold flavors. “We offer steaks, fresh seafood, and pastas. We have sea bass, salmon, along with yellow lake perch and feature weekly market specials. All of our soups are homemade,” says McRae. But the steaks are the restaurant's signature dish—something that cannot be duplicated anywhere else in Northwest Indiana. The menu rounds out with fresh salads, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, and Philly steak sandwiches (especially for boaters).
