New moms can expect the best from Community Hospital’s Family Birthing Center, one of the leading facilities in the state for newborn care. They deliver the most babies per year in the region.

With the top three floors of a new tower dedicated to the Family Birthing Center, Community Hospital this summer will unveil an all-new 32-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) plus 25 private mother/baby suites, 12 private labor and delivery rooms, two Caesarean section suites and a newborn nursery complete with baby spa.

“Our No. 1 goal throughout the entire planning process is true family-centered care,” says Michelle Cherry, nurse manager at Community Hospital NICU/Nursery. “It’s what our patients expect and what we want to do for them.”

The new Family Birthing Center will feature enhanced monitoring as well as greater comfort for moms and their families, according to Cherry. Following labor and delivery, they will move to a comfortable mother/baby room,” she says.

Community Hospital’s team of highly experienced OB/GYN physicians, anesthesiologists and neonatologists who are in-house 24/7, dedicated nurses and support staff—and lactation support—provides new moms and infants with the utmost in clinical care.
