The pharmacy giant Walgreens started in 1901 when Charles Walgreen Sr. bought the very drug store where he’d been a pharmacist. He had plenty of energy and ideas, soon starting a chain of Walgreens pharmacies, and through the years with Charles Walgreen II and III, has acquired other drug store chains.
From the beginning, it’s been about providing services. Charles Walgreen Sr. manufactured his own line of drug products so he could be certain of offering high quality at low prices, says the company.
Today, Walgreen’s commits to advances in energy savings, giving customers efficiency in filling prescriptions, offering certain health services such as flu shots and the presence of nurse practitioners, and charitable undertakings.
