Crown Point, the seat of Lake County, is home to some 27,317 according to the 2010 census. Incorporated in 1868, Crown Point has been attracting more and more people to call the city home, with stellar schools, a charming downtown, affordable living options, low crime, cultural opportunities, and family events all year long. Plus, Crown Point is near to many amenities that make for a superb quality of life, such as the proximity to Chicago, Lake Michigan and the beaches, and access to transportation including highways and rail. Crown Point is also host each summer to the oldest county fair in the state of Indiana, the Lake County Fair, and it is also the second biggest county fair in the state.
Mayor David Uran says, “Crown Point is the best place to live because our community works together to protect and complement its values. We are a bedroom community that prides itself on quality education, a professional workforce, top-notch amenities and recreational parks, and improving public infrastructure. This is all being accomplished while boosting the lowest city municipal tax rate in Northwest Indiana.”
