Brumm’s Bloomin’ Barn
Location: 2540 45th St., Highland
The seeds for Brumm’s Bloomin’ Barn were planted in Jerry Brumm’s parents’ garage and 47 years later, the floral business is still growing. Jerry and his wife Nancy opened the current location in 1970.
Brumm’s sells a variety of silk arrangements and fresh floral designs. If a customer desires a custom swag or wreath, or any other silk arrangement for the home, Jerry says Brumm’s will make them the same or next day. One of the four designers on staff will even come out to the home to assess what would best enhance its beauty.
Jerry says they only buy the freshest flowers, direct at auction. The expert floral designers create everything from everyday bouquets to wedding and funeral flowers. There are “Euro” baskets of beautiful blooms and green plants, at least 30 pick-up-and-go arrangements available in the cooler each day, and a daily cash-and-carry special, such as roses, tulips, jonquils or mixed bouquets.
Jerry says the team at Brumm’s adds unique details like feathers or rhinestones and ribbon-wrapped stems for prom and wedding flowers. Designers meet with brides or party hosts to discuss floral arrangements and will deliver directly to the hall, supervise set-up and decorate the cake with flowers on site. “We go the extra mile with our customer service and many nights, we’re here until midnight to ensure the customer is satisfied,” says Jerry. “In all our years, we’ve never turned down an order—even if we’re busy—and we never will.”
