GARY | The RailCats will face Sioux City for the final game in the weekend series and last game in the home season series against the Canaries.

The 'Cats are 1-8 against Sioux City this season and haven't lost every game to one team at home since 2005 when they were swept at U.S. Steel Yard by Fargo-Moorhead in the regular season.

Before the game, the franchise honored former RailCats Mike Rohde and Chris Carrara, who are in attendance and received crystal awards for their service to the team from owner Pat Salvi. The production booth played their walk-up music.

Sunday also marks the return of hitting coach Mick Curran, who managed the Medicine Hat Mavericks in the Western Collegiate Baseball League. The Mavericks broke a league record for wins, then lost in the championship series.

First inning

Nick Van Stratten singles to open the game for the Canaries. Cory Morales pops out to short. Marcos Rodriguez grounds out to first, moving Van Stratten to second. Reggie Abercrombie strikes out looking (yes, looking!). Mid 1st inning: Canaries 0, RailCats 0

Adam Klein is walked on seven pitches (that's the first walk of Klein this series). On the first pitch to Mike Massaro, Klein steals second. Massaro doubles home Klein. Christian Vitters strikes out swinging. Cristian Guerrero strikes out looking. Reid Fronk grounds out to second base. End 1st inning: RailCats 1, Canaries 0

Adam Klein reaches on a two-base E8. Mike Massaro strikes out swinging. Christian Vitters strikes out swinging. Cristian Guerrero strikes out swinging. Kyle Vazquez had a season high of 5 K in a game coming in, he has seven already. End 3rd inning: RailCats 1, Canaries 0

Fifth inning

Nick Liles is robbed of a hit at third base by the outstretched hand of Jared Clark. Adam Klein hits a floater out to short. Mike Massaro hits to the right-center gap and it's caught on the run, Massaro is just as surprised as the fans are disappointed they didn't see a Mike Massaro triple. End 5th inning: RailCats 1, Canaries 0

Sixth inning

Cory Morales is Morgan Coombs' ninth K victim. Marcos Rodriguez reaches on a fielding error by Zac Mitchell. Reggie Abercrombie moves Rodriguez to second on a swinging bunt (Reggie is out at first). Tim Pahuta grounds out to first. Mid 6th inning: RailCats 1, Canaries 0

Christian Vitters grounds out to second. Cristian Guerrero strikes out on three pitches. Reid Fronk flies out to left field. End 6th inning: RailCats 1, Canaries 0

Seventh inning

New Sioux Falls pitcher is Matt Daly. Kyle Vazquez set a career mark with nine K. Craig Maddox likes the change and leads off with a single. Drew Martinez grounds into a double play. RailCats fans thought Martinez was safe at first. Zac Mitchell strikes out looking. End 7th inning: RailCats 1, Canaries 0

Eighth inning

Morgan Coombs returns for the eighth having thrown 96 pitches through seven innings. On his 100th pitch, Coombs strikes out Stephen King looking. Nick Van Stratten pops out to second base. Cory Morales grounds out to short. Mid 8th inning: RailCats 1, Canaries 0

Nick Liles is caught checking is swing. He begs to differ. Adam Klein singles on a slow hopper that is scooped up by the second baseman who thinks he can make a cool toss to first, but it doesn't go that way for him. It's a tough play so it's still a single. But second basemen don't need to be cute. Klein takes second on a wild pitch to Mike Massaro. Massaro singles between first and second, Klein scores as he just beats the throw home. Massaro is on second on the throw and that's it for Daly. Jack Van Leur will pitch for the Canaries. Christian Vitters grounds out to short, moving Massaro to third. The Canaries are intentionally walking Cristian Guerrero, who struck out in his previous three at bats. Reid Fronk flies out to right field. End 8th inning: RailCats 2, Canaries 0

Ninth inning

Morgan Coombs returns for the ninth. Ryan Brockett takes over at third base for Reid Fronk. Marcos Rodriguez grounds out to third on the first pitch he sees. Reggie Abercrombie doubles to center. After a chat on the mound, Greg Tagert makes the call and pulls Coombs. Estevan Uriegas relieves Coombs, who threw 111 pitches, struck out 10 and allowed 5 hits in 8 1/3 IP. Uriegas' second pitch was wild, moving Abercrombie to third base. Uriegas walks Tim Pahuta on five pitches. Ian Durham comes in to close the game. Kevin Dultz will pinch run for Pahuta. First pitch hits Jared Clark to load the bases. Sac fly by JP Ramirez scores Abercrombie from third (the run is charged to Coombs). Jake Taylor grounds to short where Clark is out at second. FINAL: RailCats 2, Canaries 1
