GARY | The RailCats coaching staff has opted to rest many of its starters today, only as many as possible with a 23-man roster.

Missing from the lineup is leadoff man Adam Klein and triples record-setter Mike Massaro.

Several players are playing out of position, which only makes the lineup card that much more interesting.

Nick Liles grounds out to third base, where Sergio Burruel, in his second career game at third, makes the perfect play. Drew Martinez grounds out to first. Cristian Guerrero doubles into left field. Reid Fronk singles into right, Guerrero is the third out trying to reach home. End 1st inning: RailCats 0, Diablos 0

Second inning

Gabriel Suarez hits a bunt down the first base line. Suarez takes second on a wild pitch. After seeing 10 pitches, Serio Burruel grounds out to second, moving Suarez to third. Miguel Chacon pops out to second. Justin Kuks, who took the loss last night, flies out to right field to leave Suarez on third base. Mid 2nd inning: RailCats 0, Diablos 0

Craig Maddox flies out to left field. Ryan Babineau flies out to right field. Danny Pulfer is walked on a full count. Zac Mitchell strikes out swinging. End 2nd inning: RailCats 0, Diablos 0

Third inning

Rolando Petit flies out to center. Maikol Gonzalez walked on four pitches. Oscar Mesa triples into right field to score Gonzalez. Wellington Dotel grounds out to second, scoring Mesa from third. Anthony D'Alfonso lines out to third. Mid 3rd inning: Diablos 2, RailCats 0

Ryan Brockett opens the inning with an infield single. There's a slight delay while Maikol Gonzalez finds a towel to wipe himself off. Nick Liles grounds into a double play. Drew Martinez grounds back to the mound. End 3rd inning: Diablos 2, RailCats 0

Fourth inning

Gabriel Suarez strikes out swinging. Sergio Burruel grounds out to second. Miguel Chacon flies out to right field. Mid 4th inning: Diablos 2, RailCats 0

Cristian Guerrero singles up the middle. Reid Fronk is walked. Craig Maddox flies out to left, but it's fielded by the center fielder, for some reason. Ryan Babineau grounds into a double play. End 4th inning: Diablos 2, RailCats 0

Fifth inning

Justin Kuks strikes out swinging. Rolando Petit flies out to left field. Maikol Gonzalez singles up the middle. Oscar Mesa grounds out to second base. Mid 5th inning: Diablos 2, RailCats 0

Danny Pulfer strikes out swinging. Zac Mitchell flies out to left field. Ryan Brockett lines out to second base. End 5th inning: Diablos 2, RailCats 0

Sixth inning

Defensive changes for the RailCats, here's what the field looks like now: 3B Fronk, LF Maddox, C Babineau, 1B Pulfer, 2B Brockett. No additions, just changes. Wellington Dotel pops out foul to Pulfer, who leans over the Diablos' dugout to make the catch. Anthony D'Alfonso grounds out to second. Gabriel Suarez strikes out swinging, then spikes his helmet. Mid 6th inning: Diablos 2, RailCats 0

In the 10th pitch of the at bat, Nick Liles singles past third base. Liles steals second. Drew Martinez hits a bloop single into right-center that scores Liles. Cristian Guerrero flies out to right field. Reid Fronk strikes out swinging. Martinez is caught stealing second. End 6th inning: Diablos 2, RailCats 1

Seventh inning

RailCats replace Coombs with lefty Chuck Fontana. Miguel Chacon grounds to third and Reid Fronk makes a high throw to first, but Pulfer perfectly places the tag on the runner for the out. Reid Fronk jumps to make the snag out of the air for the out on switch-hitter Justin Kuks. Mid 7th inning: Diablos 2, RailCats 1

New Diablos pitcher is Charlie Hejny. Craig Maddox strikes out swinging. Ryan Babineau grounds out to short. Danny Pulfer is walked. Zac Mitchell grounds out to first. End 7th inning: Diablos 2, RailCats 1

Eighth inning

New RailCats pitcher is Matt Jernstad, replacing Fontana. Rolando Petit grounds out to second base. Maikol Gonzalez takes a two base E5. Oscar Mesa singles up the middle to score Gonzalez. Ryan Brockett hits the ground trying to field the ball and rolls, then lays there appearing injured. Wellington Dotel singles up the middle. A double steal puts both runners in scoring position. Anthony D'Alfonso grounds out to first, Mesa scores from third. Dotel steals third. Gabriel Suarez flies out to center. Mid 8th inning: Diablos 4, RailCats 1

New El Paso pitcher is Jake Meiers. Ryan Brockett singles between third and short. Nick Liles flies out to center field. Brockett takes second on a wild pitch to Drew Martinez. Then, Martinez flies out to left field. Another wild pitch puts Brockett on third base. Cristian Guerrero grounds out to short. End 8th inning: Diablos 4, RailCats 1

Ninth inning

Sergio Burruel singles into left field. Burruel takes second on a balk, Tagert goes out to second base to ask where the balk occurred. Miguel Chacon grounds out to third, moving Sergio Burruel to third base. Justin Kuks strikes out. Rolando Petit flies out to right. Mid 9th inning: Diablos 4, RailCats 1

Former RailCats reliever Marshall Schuler will pitch the ninth for El Paso. On the first pitch he sees, Reid Fronk grounds out to second. Craig Maddox is walked on a full count. Maddox takes second on a defensive indifference, Maddox wanders off the base then is thrown out at second. Very odd. Ryan Babineau flies out to left. FINAL: Diablos 4, RailCats 1
