GARY | The RailCats have three morning games this season, two in the next two days. All three are designed to cater to kids, with the parking lot full of school buses.

The weather is threatening, but maintaining a comfortable high-70s with the wind blowing with quite some force out to left field.

Today's lineup:

SS Ryan Khoury

2B Jake Hahaulelio

DH John Rodriguez

1B CJ Ziegler

C Cole Armstrong

3B Abel Nieves

LF Colt Loehrs

RF David Amberson

CF Jared McDonald

RHP Jon Link (1-0, 0.00 ERA)

RailCats (3-2)

RF Cristian Guerrero

C Craig Maddox

1B Steve Liddle

3B Brian Kolb

CF Drew Martinez

SS Zac Mitchell

2B Chase Tucker

LHP Ari Ronick (0-1, 7.20 ERA)

If you see Brian Kolb in there, his finger must be better enough to play today. Kolb has been out since jamming his finger in a slide on opening day. The injury is on his catching hand so it doesn't impact his throwing.

First inning

Announced temp is 72 degrees at the first pitch. Ryan Khoury pops out. Jake Kahaulelio flies out to center field, a ball caught on the run by Drew Martinez. John Rodriguez hits an infield single to give the Wingnuts a base runner. On the eighth pitch he sees, CJ Ziegler strikes out looking. Mid 1st inning: Wingnuts 0, RailCats 0

Adam Klein grounds out to short. Mike Massaro hits a double off the left-field wall that in almost any other park would have been out, it was that high on the wall. Cristian Guerrero grounds out to short, moving Massaro to third. Craig Maddox is issued a two-out walk to put runners on the corners. Steve Liddle strikes out swinging. End 1st inning: RailCats 0, Wingnuts 0

Second inning

Ari Ronick gives up a leadoff walk to Cole Armstrong. Abel Nieves pops out foul to first base and Colt Loehrs pops out fair to first base. David Amberson grounds to short where Armstrong is taken out at second. Mid 2nd inning: RailCats 0, Wingnuts 0

Brian Kolb is having a hard time holding onto the bat with the broken finger. The good news for the RailCats is that Jon Link didn't give him too much to swing at, walking Kolb. With a crazy, running, diving catch in shallow right-center by right fielder David Amberson, Drew Martinez flies out. Zac Mitchell strikes out swinging and on a quick throw to second Kolb is out trying to steal for the double play. End 2nd inning: RailCats 0, Wingnuts 0

Third inning

Jared McDonald lays down a bunt single. Ryan Khoury flies to to center and Jake Kahaulelio grounds out to the mound, moving McDonald to second base. John Rodriguez strikes out swinging. Mid 3rd inning: RailCats 0, Wingnuts 0.

Chase Tucker grounds out to short and Adam Klein and Mike Massaro ground out to second. It's the first 1-2-3 offensive inning for the 'Cats. End 3rd inning: RailCats 0, Wingnuts 0

Fourth inning

CJ Ziegler hits a homer over the left field wall where the wind is blowing out. Cole Armstrong tries for the same place, but it's only good for a fly out. Abel Nieves flies out to center. Colt Loehrs singles into shallow right and David Amberson is plunked in the back on the first pitch. Jared McDonald flies out to left. Mid 4th inning: Wingnuts 1, RailCats 0

Cristian Guerrero grounds out to third and Craig Maddox singles into left field. Steve Liddle hits himself in the head with a foul ball, he hit the ground immediately. Athletic trainer Audric Warren came bolting out of the dugout as Liddle stood up, with his hands on his knees. He's OK and will continue batting. Liddle strikes out swinging at the next pitch. Brian Kolb singles into center. Drew Martinez hits a double to left that the left fielder says he had, the ump at 2B says he didn't. RailCats score two runs on the double as Craig Maddox and Brian Kolb both run on the heads-up play. Wingnuts manager Kevin Hooper believes the ball is caught. He so strongly makes his case he's ejected. Zac Mitchell flies out to center. End 4th inning: RailCats 2, Wingnuts 1

Fifth inning

Ryan Khoury pops out foul to first. Jake Kahaulelio is walked.  John Rodriguez strikes out for the second time in as many at bats. Drew Martinez makes a diving catch in center on a ball hit by CJ Ziegler and all eyes look to the 2B ump, who makes the quick call of out. Mid 5th inning: RailCats 2, Wingnuts 1

Chase Tucker flies out to right field. Adam Klein singles with a hopper between third and short. Jake Kahaulelio jumps up as if from a trampoline to barely nab a line drive hit by Mike Massaro. Unbelievable play.  Cristian Guerrero strikes out swinging. End 5th inning: RailCats 2, Wingnuts 1

Sixth inning

Cole Armstrong pops out to short. Abel Nieves strikes out looking and the Wingnuts dugout can be heard yelling "lock it in!" Colt Loehrs lines out to second. Mid 6th inning: RailCats 2, Wingnuts 1

Craig Maddox flies out to left-center at the wall. Steve Liddle grounds back to the mound. Brian Kolb hits a bloop single, he's now 2-for-2 with a walk. Drew Martinez has a hit robbed by Jake Kahaulelio, who is having an impressive defensive campaign. End 6th inning: RailCats 2, Wingnuts 1

Seventh inning

New RailCats pitcher is Taylor Sewitt. Ronick went 6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 4 SO, he tossed 90 pitches, 59 for strikes. David Amberson grounds out to short. Jared McDonald singles into right, the first hit for the Wingnuts since the fourth inning. Ryan Khoury flies out to left. There's an unknown meeting on the mound. Jake Kahaulelio flies out to center. 7th inning stretch: RailCats 2, Wingnuts 1

New Wichita pitcher is Anthony Capra. Jon Link went 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 4 SO, he threw 112 pitches, 76 for strikes. Zac Mitchell is walked (dreaded leadoff walk). Chase Tucker hits a sac bunt to move Mitchell to second. Adam Klein pops out to third. Mike Massaro is out unassisted at first base. End 7th inning: RailCats 2, Wingnuts 1

Eighth inning

Estevan Uriegas takes over pitching for the RailCats. John Rodriguez doubles off the left-field wall to open the inning. CJ Ziegler and Cole Armstrong strike out looking. Abel Nieves grounds out to second, that's huge for the 'Cats to work through the middle of the Wingnuts order. Nos. 7-8-9 up for the ninth inning. Mid 8th inning: RailCats 2, Wingnuts 1

New Wingnuts pitcher for the eighth is Nick Walters. Cristian Guerrero strikes out swinging. Craig Maddox strikes out swinging. Steve Liddle grounds out to first. End 8th inning: RailCats 2, Wingnuts 1

Ninth inning

Marco Gonzalez will close for the RailCats. PH Derek Perren grounds out to second. David Amberson flies out to shallow right-center. Jared McDonald flies out to left. Most of the Kids Day kids are still around for the end of the game. Controversial call in left comes back to haunt Wingnuts. Final: RailCats 2, Wingnuts 1
