With shovel-ready sites and expansion of some existing businesses, Porter County is poised for increased development in the coming months.
"From an economic standpoint, in the last year, we've really had some great things happen," said Rex Richards, president of the Greater Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce.
Two or three real estate groups have come into Porter County, particularly along Ind. 49, from U.S. 30 up to the Toll Road, Richards said.
"There's probably three brand new, nice, shovel-ready industrial parks that are in the process of being developed," he said.
Richards also said two long-established Valparaiso companies plan to expand.
And, the growing health care presence in the county is attracting even more health business opportunities, Richards said.
"Other doctors and other people are looking at Valparaiso as a place there might be some opportunities for medical businesses," he said.
