Job growth in Indiana is receiving national attention. The Wall Street Journal reports the state has experienced the largest percentage increase in the nation in jobs over the past year.
The 1.9 percent increase is due mainly to an increase in manufacturing jobs. Indiana Department of Workforce Development Communications Director Marc Lotter says there are several factors behind the numbers.

A new study from Indiana University researchers suggests more startup businesses are coming from university research than previously thought. The study, in this month's issue of the journal Research Policy, finds a significant number of researchers bypass university patent and licensing offices, likely leading to more startups.

Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Co. says it is launching a new cholesterol-lowering drug in the U.S. Livalo is a partnership with Japanese-based Kowa Pharmaceuticals America Inc. The companies announced an agreement last year to commercialize Livalo in the U.S.
Ivy Tech Building to Bear Carson Name
Ivy Tech Community College and U.S. Rep. Andre Carson, D-Ind., officially announced Monday that a $10.4 million multimodal parking facility will be named after the late U.S. Rep. Julia Carson.

Pacers, Emmis renew partnership
The Indiana Pacers and Emmis Communications Corp. have entered into a new long-term agreement for radio broadcasts of all Pacers games. Under the deal, games will continue to be broadcast on the Pacers Radio Network through Emmis-owned Network Indiana.
Carbon Motors recruits two new suppliers
Connersville-based Carbon Motors Corp. is teaming up with Bosch Engineering and Inteva Products LLC on producing its Carbon E7 police cars. Bosch Engineering will lead the development of the electrical architecture, while Inteva Products will oversee the vehicles' interior design.
Indy Connect releases public feedback
Central Indiana's regional transportation initiative says area residents are seeking a more reliable bus service, as well as light rail and commuter rail service. Those are some of the findings emerging from nearly 70 public meetings on a draft regional transportation plan from Indy Connect. The feedback will help with a revised plan, which is expected to be released in the fall.
Wine distributor to launch Indiana operations
Southern Wine and Spirits of America Inc. plans to start operations in Indiana next month. The company has a distribution facility in Greenwood, satellite hubs in Gary and Evansville and a sales office in Indianapolis.
Greenwood Chamber relocating office
The Greater Greenwood Chamber of Commerce says it has decided to locate its new office at the Greenwood Commerce Center. The chamber says it has nearly doubled its membership and operations since purchasing its current home on U.S. 31 in 1996.
State issues reminder of child labor law updates
The Indiana Department of Labor is reminding employers about updates to federal definitions of Prohibited and Hazardous Occupations for teen workers. The regulations are part of the Fair Labor Standards Act and cover updated technology and other items that have not been included in child labor regulations established nearly 30 years ago.
Indy parks to expand free meal program this summer
The National Recreation and Park Association is providing a $50,000 grant to Indy Parks and Recreation and the Indianapolis Parks Foundation to expand the Summer Food Service Program. Indy Parks says the funding will help serve 160,000 meals at 82 sites.
