An Indiana-based car dealer with a dozen locations throughout the state and Chicago, including Merrillville, has invested $1 million to expand in Elkhart. Mike Anderson Auto Group says its newly-opened used car center employs 15 workers.

 

Hospitals Forge 'Landmark' Deal

The president of the Health and Hospital Corp. of Marion County says a new partnership with Community Health Network will create the largest health care provider in central Indiana. Matthew Gutwein says the agreement aims to improve access to care, particularly among underserved patients, and includes the new Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, which is slated to open in December. He believes the partnership is a logical move for both groups.

 

Purdue Touts Largest Gift Ever From Individuals

Purdue University is highlighting an anonymous $65 million estate gift. The funding will go to the College of Agriculture and Purdue calls it the largest donation from individuals in the university's history. The gift was originally announced over the weekend by university President Mitch Daniels.

 

Warrick County Vying For New Facility, Jobs

A southern Indiana industrial park is aiming to land a development that could bring 400 jobs to the area. Our partners at the Evansville Courier & Press report Warrick County officials say an industrial company is looking into building a plant at the North Warrick Industrial Park.

 

Brinegar: Proposed Tax Cut 'Not Dead'

Despite a House Republican budget proposal that does not include Governor Mike Pence's call for an income tax cut, Indiana Chamber of Commerce President Kevin Brinegar does not believe the idea is dead. In this week's INside the Statehouse segment, Brinegar says a mid-April revenue forecast could provide flexibility for Republicans to consider the cut as well as increased investments in education and infrastructure.

A business travel website has dubbed Indianapolis International Airport one of the "Top 10 Best U.S. Airports for Business Travelers." The list from I Fly First Class is based on canceled and delayed flight data.

 

IU Extends McRobbie's Contract

The Indiana University Board of Trustees has extended President Michael McRobbie's contract until 2020. The deal includes an increase in McRobbie's performance bonus agreement.

 

Manning to Return to Indy For Fundraiser

Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning will take part in a fundraiser this spring for the Indianapolis hospital that bears his name. Manning and his wife Ashley will serve as honorary chairpersons for the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent Celebration of Caring Gala, which will feature country music star Luke Bryan.

 

Partnership Prepares for 'Spark Tank'

The Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership is seeking ideas from Millennials throughout the region. The organization is planning to hold its second annual Spark Tank event this week in Kendallville.

 

Old School Becomes Community Center

The first phase of a new community center in Indianapolis is open. The Indianapolis Foundation says the former Hazel Hart Hendricks School 37 has been converted into 37 Place. Renovations for the first phase of the project were helped by nearly $4 million in funding from several sources.

 

Stadium Seats to be Sold

An Indianapolis-based nonprofit will sell salvaged memorabilia from a historic baseball stadium. People For Urban Progress will begin offering seats from the former Bush Stadium Thursday.

 

IU Names Public Health School Founding Dean

Indiana University has named Paul Halverson the founding dean of the IU Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at IUPUI. He most recently served as director and state health officer for the Arkansas Department of Health.
