A large oil re-refinery in East Chicago is part of Massachusetts-based Clean Harbors Inc.'s $1.25 billion acquisition of Safety-Kleen Inc. in Texas. Clean Harbors says the deal will help it capitalize on growing demand for recycled products such as re-refined oil.


Banking Company Names New President

South Bend-based 1st Source Corp. has promoted James Seitz to president of 1st Source Bank. He was serving as executive vice president and has been with the company since 1980.


Truck Trailer Maker Enters New Market

Lafayette-based Wabash National Corp. is launching a new transportable mobile shelter as part of a continuing diversification strategy. The company says it was inspired by Hurricane Katrina, when quick access to safe shelter was not always readily available. Vice President Jamie Scarcelli says there have been no discussions with Hurricane Sandy relief organizers, but Wabash would be prepared to provide shelters if needed. Chamber Targeting 'Middle Skill' Jobs Gap

The Indiana Chamber of Commerce has launched a website to help bridge the so-called "middle skills" gap. Vice President of Education and Workforce Development Derek Redelman regularly hears from companies seeking employees to fill openings requiring more than a high school diploma, but less than a four-year college degree and says the site is designed to help plug that hole. Elkhart RV Supplier Buys Middlebury Hardwoods

Elkhart-based Patrick Industries Inc. has acquired a Hoosier cabinet maker. Middlebury Hardwood Products Inc. will continue to operate on a stand-alone basis as part of the more than $20 million deal.


IU Partners With California Health Care Company

Indiana University has selected a California-based company to provide its health care management technology. The agreement with Castlight Health Inc. includes customizable benefits programs and health care cost data services.


Internship Programs Make Top 10

Data Center Company Announces New Expansion Phase

INDOT Support Helps ISU Develop New Degree

Indiana State University says support from the Indiana Department of Transportation has helped create a new major in civil engineering technology. INDOT touted the benefits earlier this year to the state Commission for Higher Education, which then approved the program.


Old National Profit Increases

Evansville-based Old National Bancorp is reporting third quarter net income of $19.7 million, compared to $16.8 million for the same period last year. Chief Executive Officer Bob Jones says loan growth helped offset additional expenses from a merger with Columbus-based Indiana Community Bancorp.


Ivy Tech to Offer Business Training Online

Ivy Tech Corporate College is set to offer employee training online. The school says the first of 10 courses will focus on environmental, health and safety training.


Indy Tax Program Receives Federal Funding

The Internal Revenue Service has awarded a $122,000 grant to Indianapolis' free tax preparation program. The city says this is the fifth year in a row it has received the federal funding
