Hostess Workers Eligible For Federal Aid
The U.S. Department of Labor says workers who lost their jobs when Hostess Brands went out of business are eligible for Trade Adjustment Assistance. That includes more than 800 in Indiana. The Labor Department says an investigation showed increased imports contributed to the company's downfall.
Wabash Looks to Boost Student Entrepreneurs
Wabash College says a summit this weekend is part of a broad strategy to spark student interest in entrepreneurship. The school expects more than 200 attendees from throughout the state to take part in the Entrepreneur Summit, which will include speakers from around the country. Wabash has also recently launched a mini-funding program for student entrepreneurs and plans to hold a "Startup Saturday" event this fall. A Fort Wayne-based company is branching out into golf insurance. Sports Insurance Specialists LLC says the line will include coverage for courses, management companies, associations and tournaments. Indiana State University has been named the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance's Sprint Campus of the Year for 2013. The organization says the award recognizes excellence in nonprofit career preparation based on recruitment and internship placement.

Indianapolis-based Bluelock LLC is opening a new datacenter in Las Vegas. The company, which provides cloud-based IT services, has similar facilities in Indianapolis and Salt Lake City.

An Elkhart plant is being highlighted for workplace safety. The Indiana Department of Labor says Atlas Die LLC's Chem-Milling facility is now part of the Indiana Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program.
