A new report shows Indiana businesses will face increased competition for qualified employees over the next 20 years. Projections from the Indiana Business Research Center at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business suggest labor force growth is slowing and will be essentially flat between 2020 and 2030. Demographer Matt Kinghorn says baby boomers entering retirement age and a plateau in the decades-long rise in women entering the labor force have led to the slowdown. Truck Supplier Adding Jobs In Hendricks County

A global commercial truck supplier is planning to consolidate its North American remanufacturing operations in Indiana. Michigan-based Meritor Inc. (NYSE: MTOR) plans to invest $1.4 million and add more than 80 jobs in Plainfield by the end of next year.

 

New Corvette Panels Prompt Indiana Expansion

A Michigan-based company is planning a $6.3 million expansion at its Huntington operations. Continental Structural Plastics Inc. intends to add up to 50 jobs by 2015 to help with a new production line to manufacture body panels for the 2015 Corvette.

 

'Fort to Port' Section to Open

A more than $110 million construction project that began in 2008 will open Wednesday. Gov. Mitch Daniels will join local and federal officials to cut the ribbon on the final Indiana portion of the U.S. 24 "Fort to Port" project connecting Fort Wayne to Toledo. Donors Make Contribution to Arts Center

The Center for the Performing Arts has landed a $1 million contribution. The private donor funding will support The Michael Feinstein Great American Songbook Initiative, which is based at the Carmel facility.

 

Brooks Names Chief of Staff

U.S. Representative-elect Susan Brooks has named Mel Raines chief of staff. Raines previously served in a prominent role on the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee and was a member of Vice President Dick Cheney's staff.

 

Roche to Detail Key Part of Big Expansion

Roche Diagnostics in Indianapolis will release more details tomorrow on the first phase of its $300 million expansion. Mayor Greg Ballard and company officials will break ground on the New Learning and Development Center, which is part of the company's 10-year initiative to grow its North American headquarters.

 

Life Sciences Boosting Indiana Vendors

A report from a life sciences advocacy organization shows Indiana vendors earned more than $1.8 billion from industry companies last year. The study from We Work For Health suggests there were more than 3,500 company-vendor relationships in 2011.

 

Life Sciences Company Recieves NIH Funding

A Purdue Research Park-based company has secured a $300,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health. Tymora Analytical Operations LLC plans to use the funding to strengthen its technology designed to help develop better drug candidates to battle diseases, including cancer and diabetes.

 

Health Foundation Lands Grief Support Grant

The Community Health Network Foundation has been awarded a $100,000 grant from a national organization. The Grief Reach Grant from the New York Life Foundation will be used to expand services for disadvantaged children in Indianapolis.

 

Indy Chamber Seeking Economic Development VP

The Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce is searching for a vice president of regional economic development. President Scott Miller says it is another step to leverage a "pro-growth, pro-business climate" in the nine-county area.

 

College Mentors For Kids Begins New CEO Search

Indianapolis-based College Mentors for Kids is seeking a new chief executive officer after Erin Slater announced her resignation. The organization's board of directors says executive vice president Amanda Koushyar will serve as interim CEO.
