As the boys' state high school basketball tournament reaches a climax this weekend, memories of Milan High School's run to the 1954 title live on. The movie "Hoosiers" was released more than 25 years ago. Producer Angelo Pizzo recently returned to the Ripley County town for the first time since 1982 as the Milan '54 Museum tries to raise enough money to secure the largest collection of uniforms and props from the film. In an interview to air this weekend on Inside INdiana Business Television, Pizzo talks about compelling sports-related storytelling and the need for tax credits to spark Indiana's film industry.

 

Indy Credit Unions to Merge

Two Indianapolis credit unions will merge next month. Financial Center Federal Credit Union will absorb Horizon One Federal Credit Union. The two organizations have combined assets of nearly $500 million.

 

Camp Atterbury Planning Name Change

A historic Indiana military base is in the process of changing its name. A spokeswoman with the Indiana National Guard confirms Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center is in the early stages of combining its name and many services with nearby Muscatatuck Urban Training Center.

 

Batesville Employer Acquires Ohio Manufacturer

Batesville-based Elgin Fastner Group LLC has completed the acquisition of an Ohio company. Telefast Industries Inc. is a threaded product manufacturer. It is the eighth business to become part of the Elgin Fastner Group.

 

INDYCAR to Start Season With New Agreements

The IZOD IndyCar series will go green this weekend for the first time in 2013 with new sponsors and a push to boost visibility. The season will begin with the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and include logistics supplier SOS Global Express Inc. and championship trophy and ring provider Jostens Inc. as partners. Wolf: Space is 'Powerful' Tool for STEM Education

Astronaut David Wolf hopes his partnership with The Children's Museum of Indianapolis will allow spaceflight to "generate inspiration" in people of all ages. In a Studio(i) interview, the Indiana native says the principles used in space are applicable in all types of business. Wolf plans to announce partnerships with other Indiana companies and organizations in the future.

 

Winnecke Sets State of The City

The Mayor of Evansville has scheduled his annual State of the City address for next week at Casino Aztar. Lloyd Winnecke will use the presentation to debut new social media initiatives.

 

Shopping Center Coming to Connersville

Construction on a 42,000 square-foot retail shopping center in Connersville is set to begin this spring. The Indianapolis office of Cassidy Turley says Connersville Commons will include a free-standing Goodwill retail store.

 

Indiana Earns National Development Awards

Two of the state's biggest jobs announcements from 2012 have received honors from a national trade publication. Expansions at the Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) fulfillment center in Jeffersonville and the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana Inc. plant in Princeton have earned awards from Trade & Industry Development magazine.

 

Fort Wayne Company Inks International Deal

Fort Wayne-based ITT Exelis Inc. has landed a $4.3 million contract with an international customer. The deal calls on the company to provide communication systems and installation kits.

 

Rose-Hulman Names Chemical Engineering Leader

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology assistant professor Adam Nolte has been named the head of the Department of Chemical Engineering. He had been serving in the role on an interim basis.
