The mayor of Jeffersonville says Tuesday's announcement that 360 additional jobs are planned for the area shows the city is on the radar of companies throughout the world. Ohio-based Standard Register Co. wants to invest $10 million to locate a printing and distribution center in the River Ridge Commerce Center. Mike Moore says the city's work force will be ready to support the new employment thanks to efforts by One Southern Indiana and the large base of workers in nearby Louisville. He tells Inside INdiana Business even more employers are interested in the area.


Celadon Moves Forward With Driver School

Indianapolis-based Celadon Trucking Services Inc. has announced more details about plans for a driver training school. The company now says it will invest $5.7 million in the project and add up to 500 jobs by 2022. Expansion and Job Cuts Hit Indiana City

There is mixed jobs news for Muncie. Automotive components manufacturer Magna Powertrain of America Inc. is planning to add up to 76 jobs by 2016 as part of an $11.5 million expansion. Monogram Food Solutions LLC plans to close a Muncie operation in a move affecting 87 workers.


Ripley County Company Plans Layoffs

A packaging company in southeast Indiana has announced a work force reduction. In a notice to the state, Deufol Sunman Inc. says it plans to permanently lay off more than 80 workers and transfer nearly 60 to another facility in the Ripley County town.


TEDx Event Coming to Purdue

More than 20 speakers are set to take part in TEDxPurdueU 2013 next month. The presenters include a mother of child prodigies and an expert on using guitar education for therapeutic purposes.


Governor Reappoints IURC Chairman

Governor Mike Pence has re-appointed Jim Atterholt as chairman of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. The Fort Wayne native has served in the position since 2010.


Purdue Extension Names Director

Purdue University has named Jason Henderson associate dean of the College of Agriculture and director of Purdue Extension. He most recently served as vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.


Cummins Promotes Executive

Columbus-based Cummins Inc. has promoted Lixin Peng to Vice President - Engineering, China Area Business Organization. He has served in a variety of executive positions since joining the company in 2007.


Home Sales on The Rise

The Indiana Association of Realtors is reporting home sales, prices and listings in February all increased from the same month a year earlier. President Kevin Kirkpatrick says rising consumer confidence is one reason for the positive results.


VYPE Event to Honor Athletic Directors

The Central Indiana VYPE Foundation will highlight area high school athletic programs at its inaugural golf outing. Foundation board members, including Inside INdiana Business Television Host Gerry Dick and Indiana Sports Corp. Chief Executive Officer Allison Melangton, are set to participate in next month's event.


Fox Sports 1 to Broadcast IMS Event

A new national sports television network means more exposure for Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Red Bull Indianapolis GP in August will be one of the first live events on the soon-to-be launched Fox Sports 1.
