A new business accelerator in southern Indiana is looking for five early-stage companies for its first round of investments and mentoring services. Velocity Indiana Managing Director Tony Schy says the funding is coming from New Albany-based Blue Sky Foundation Inc. and Ogle Foundation Inc. in Jeffersonville. Schy says his long-term goal is to provide a "broad array" of services outside of the accelerator program.

 

Daniels to Speak at Energy Summit

Purdue University President Mitch Daniels delivered a keynote address at the Energy Innovation Summit near Washington D.C. He joined energy tycoon T. Boone Pickens on the agenda for the U.S. Department of Energy event.

 

Indy Wineries Set to Release Newest Offerings

Seven central Indiana wineries are looking to boost business through an event next month. Members of the Indy Wine Trail are planning the inaugural "Free the Cork Saturday" to highlight new wine selections.

 

Online Company Announces New Market, COO

An Indianapolis-based online auto marketplace company is entering a new market. MaxTradeIn says its system is now available to customers and dealerships in Cincinnati. The company has also announced the hiring of a former ChaCha and Overstock.com executive as chief operating officer.

 

Tech Company Signs Belgian Agreement

Purdue Research Park-based M4 Sciences LLC has landed a second deal with a Belgium-based manufacturer. The deal with NV Bekaert SA allows the global steel wire maker to access M4's patents and machining technology systems.

 

Fort Wayne Mayor Visiting D.C.

Fort Wayne's mayor is in the nation's capital to visit state and federal officials. Tom Henry is slated to meet with Senators Dan Coats (R) and Joe Donnelly (D), Congressman Marlin Stutzman (R-3) and representatives from several federal agencies.

 

Frontier Fares no Longer on Expedia

Frontier Airlines says its schedules and fares are no longer available on Expedia.com. The carrier, which is owned by Indianapolis-based Republic Airways Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: RJET), says it was unable to reach an agreement to continue offering its services on the online travel agency's website.

 

IPFW Extends Program in Dominican Republic

Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne will continue to help operate a health care program in Central America. The school has signed a five-year extension to a Memorandum of Understanding with a university in the Dominican Republic.

 

Lilly Endowment Awards INHP Large Grant

The Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership has landed a $6.3 Million Lilly Endowment Inc. grant. INHP says the money will go toward foreclosure prevention services, community enhancement initiatives and operational funding for up to a dozen affiliated corporations.

 

Franchitti Featured on Indy 500 Ticket

The 2013 Indianapolis 500 ticket features three-time winner Dario Franchitti celebrating his victory in last year's race. This year's event is set for Sunday, May 26.
