Affordability may be key to the continuing growth of the state's housing market this year. Indiana Association of Realtors Chief Executive Officer Karl Berron says modest prices and low interest rates have helped Indiana avoid market swings experienced in other parts of the country. Tech Company Secures Seed Funding

A technology company in Lafayette has completed a $1 million funding round. Emerging Threats, which specializes in combating malware and other online threats, says the seed money comes from Elevate Ventures, Lawrence Ventures and the HALO Capital Group, which is managed by TechPoint.

 

Funeral Industry Supplier Announces Acquisition

Richmond-based Starmark Funeral Products has acquired a Texas company. It has purchased Funeral Industry Containers of Houston with plans to add staff and move into a larger facility in the Texas city.

 

IU Plans 'Major Announcement' Involving Lugar

Indiana University says it will make a "major announcement" this week about former Sen. Richard Lugar's relationship with the school. IU Center on Congress Director Lee Hamilton is also set to be part of Thursday's event.

 

Brokaw to Headline O'Bannon Institute

Veteran broadcast journalist and author Tom Brokaw will speak at Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington's 10th annual O'Bannon Institute for Community Service. Brokaw will headline the April fundraising dinner with proceeds benefiting the Ivy Tech Center for Civic Engagement.

 

Angstadt Earns Racing Company Promotion

Indianapolis-based Green Savoree Racing Promotions Inc. has promoted its executive vice president to president. Terry Angstadt previously served as president of INDYCAR's commercial division. The company owns and operates racing venues in Canada, Ohio and Florida.

 

ISU Releases Rural Business Study

A new study suggests quality of life outweighs economic concerns for rural entrepreneurs. The research, commissioned by Indiana State University's Rural Urban Entrepreneurship Development Institute, also indicates respondents are concerned about issues including financing, health care costs, technological support and training employees.

 

Indy Company Acquires 'Body-Slimming' Line

Indianapolis-based E&A Industries has acquired a New York apparel company. E&A officials say the deal for Lyssé adds to its diverse company portfolio that includes a provider of ultrasound machines and a wholesale lighting distributor.

 

New CEO at 3Rivers

Fort Wayne-based 3Rivers Federal Credit Union has tapped Don Cates to be chief executive officer. Cates most recently served as the organization's executive vice president.

 

Purdue Looking to Pair Interns, Tech Startups

Purdue University is seeking to connect undergraduate interns with high-tech startups. Purdue North Central Office of Career Development Director Natalie Connors says the Interns for Indiana program allows students to "become engaged in the entrepreneurial spirit."
