INSIDE INDIANA BUSINESS: River Ridge Makes Millions in Upgrades
A southern Indiana business park is hoping more than $20 million in infrastructure improvments will help attract more businesses. The River Ridge Development Authority says the water system, sewer system and road access at the River Ridge Commerce Center have all been upgraded in the last year and are still being improved. The center is on the site of the former Indiana Army Ammunition plant along the Ohio River in Clark County.
Study Highlights Casino's Impact
A new report suggests tourism is a more than $500 million industry in Anderson and Madison County. The study from the Anderson/Madison County Visitors & Convention Bureau Inc. also shows the industry employs more than 3,800 people in the area. Bureau Executive Director Ralph Day says Hoosier Park Racing and Casino has helped Anderson become "a destination" for tourists.
Digonex Secures More Patents
An Indianapolis–based company specializing in pricing technology has received two new patents from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Dignonex says the designations provide specific protections to its systems for pricing items such as event tickets and eBooks.
Century–Old Church to Move
A 132–year–old church will move to Santa Claus Park in Spencer County this week. The 50–ton Deutsch Evangelish St. Paul's Kirche will join the 1935 Santa Statue and Santa Claus museum at the site.
Riley Names New Chief Medical Officer
Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health has appointed Paul Haut chief medical officer. He is the former director of the Riley Stem Cell Transplant Program at IU Health.
State of INDYCAR Open to Public
INDYCAR is opening part of its annual season preview meetings to the public. The state of INDYCAR address is set for Monday in Indianapolis. The public is welcome to attend the speech at the Hilbert Circle Theatre.
Colleges to Hold Transition Event For Military
A military transition fair is planned for this month in Fort Wayne. Ivy Tech Community College–Northeast and IPFW are hosting the event to help members of the military with job searches, networking and other services to help with the transition back to civilian life.
State, Goodwill Announce Online Auction Partnership
The state and Goodwill Industries have established an unclaimed property partnership. Indiana's auction of unclaimed assets is now available on Goodwill's online auction site. The Attorney General's office says the available items are from safe deposit boxes that have been turned over to the state.
Community Expanding School District Partnership
Community Health Network and the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township are expanding a partnership. The schools will access sports medicine programs from the health care provider.
Hostess Workers Eligible For Trade Adjustment Assistance
Some workers related to Hostess Brands Inc. are eligible for services under the federal Trade Adjustment Assistance program. The Indiana Department of Workforce Development reports some accounting services employees in Indianapolis, who lost their jobs in February 2010, can access the aid.
