More details are emerging about an expansion at an Indiana auto plant. In his State of the City speech, Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski revealed the anticipated capital investment at Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. will be around $200 million. That follows last year's $75 million production expansion, which was expected to create 100 jobs. Roswarski tells our partners at WBAA he expects the new investment to create a significant number of jobs in the area.


Airport Solar Farm Set to Get Underway

A more than $35 million initiative to build a large-scale solar farm at Indianapolis International Airport has received a key approval. The Federal Aviation Administration has cleared two Indianapolis-based companies, Telamon Corp. and Johnson Melloh Solutions, to begin constructing the proposed 75-acre development. Airport Project Manager Eric Anderson tells Inside INdiana Business the farm is an example of the facility's focus on green initiatives.


Kokomo Schools Planning More International Housing

Plans are in the works to add a second set of exchange student dormitories at Kokomo High School. The Kokomo-Center Consolidated School Corp. plans to upgrade a downtown building to house more than a dozen female students.


Women's Conference Coming to Indiana

Gov. Mike Pence says he is working with the Midwest Invent Your Future Conference for Women to create the Indiana Governor's Conference for Women in October. RepuCare Chief Executive Officer Billie Dragoo and Center For Innovative Leadership Managing Partner Deborah Stephens will serve as co-chairs of the event.


Downtown South Bend Showing Signs of Growth

Efforts to draw new businesses to one northern Indiana city's downtown appear to be paying off. Downtown South Bend Inc. says a theater company and an Edible Arrangements location are the most recent shops to call the area home. Our partners at Fox 28 in South Bend report five stores in total have moved in over the last month.


Mike's Carwash Reaches Into Another State

Indianapolis-based Mike's Carwash has expanded into Kentucky. The company has opened a $3 million location in Florence, Kentucky. It previously operated only in Ohio and Indiana.


Major Grant to Support Scientific 'Gateway'

Purdue University will use a five-year $14.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation to expand the science and engineering platform. The technology allows researchers around the world to share simulation software, data and other content.


State Details Health Care Safety Plan

The Indiana Department of Labor has unveiled details of a new initiative designed to reduce the worker injury and illness rate in the state's health care industry. The effort focuses on the sector's most common injuries, including falls and needlesticks.


Heart Association Names Executive Director

The American Heart Association in Indianapolis has named Wendy King executive director. She has been with the organization since 2006 and most recently served as regional vice president of communications.


Fort Wayne Museum Hires Director

The African/African American Historical Society Museum in Fort Wayne has named John Aden executive director. He has previously worked at the Oriental Institute Museum at the University of Chicago and the National Museum of Mali in West Africa.


Interactive Intelligence Profit Narrows

Indianapolis-based Interactive Intelligence Group Inc. is reporting fourth quarter net income of $2.3 million, compared to $4.6 million during the same period the previous year. Chief Executive Officer Donald Brown says the company expects a 20 percent increase in orders this year.
