Simon Reports Q4 Profit Increase
Indianapolis–based Simon Property Group Inc. is reporting a fourth quarter profit of nearly $363 million, compared to nearly $218 million for the same period a year earlier. The company says Funds from Operations was $678.9 million, nearly $40 million higher for the same period.
Dungy: Indy Exceeds Expectations
There are more glowing reviews for Indianapolis as a Super Bowl host, including a thumbs up from the man who led the city's National Football League team to its most successful season ever. Former Indianapolis Colts Coach Tony Dungy says the city has stepped up even better than he anticipated. OrthoWorx: Potential Hospital a 'Bold, Ambitious Plan'
The head of Indiana's orthopedics initiative says a potential specialty hospital in Kosciusko County would benefit the entire state. OrthoWorx Chief Executive Officer David Floyd says an orthopedic hospital would be a significant asset for researchers at the state's universities. The organization is conducting a feasibility study on the project.
Parkview Adding on to New Hospital
Parkview Regional Medical Center intends to pump an additional $14 million in its new hospital, which is set to open next month. A build–out is planned on two floors and will include nearly 50 more beds. Most of the additional space is expected to be completed this spring.
Purdue Research Funding on The Rise
Purdue University says it has doubled annual research spending to $600 million since 2006. The school says the funding is part of a goal to increase economic development in Indiana and revenue streams for the university.
Super Startup Winner to be Announced
Marion County's economic development organization will name the top entry in the Super Startup Competition this afternoon. Develop Indy says the winning business will get a ticket to Super Bowl XLVI and sit with Startup America Partnership Chief Executive Officer Scott Case.
Recycling Facility Project Moving Forward in Richmond
Chicago–based Perpetual Recycling Solutions says it has finally secured the financing needed to move forward with its long–delayed plan for a plant in Richmond. The facility is expected to be operational in December.
Grant County Hosting I–69 Challenge
Five Indiana colleges and universities will take part in the I–69 Collegiate Innovation Challenge next week. Teams of students will have less than 24 hours to propose a business solution to respond to a proposed economic or domestic disaster.
Independent Colleges Mark Enrollment Growth
Independent Colleges of Indiana is reporting 25 years of consecutive student enrollment growth among member schools. ICI says total enrollment has increased by 75 percent from fall 1986 to fall 2011.
Trine Touts Placement Ratings
Trine University is reporting 91 percent of its most recent graduates have found jobs, or are pursuing advanced degrees. The university says the placement ratings at its four main campuses are above the National Association of Colleges and Employers average of 68 percent.
Skillman Looking For 'Rising Stars'
Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman is accepting nominations for the 2012 Hoosier Rising Star Award. Hoosiers are encouraged to nominate K–12 students who have created or led an innovative project, including economic development, environmental issues and tourism.
