Will Indianapolis make a bid to host another Super Bowl? It's a question being asked after the city's highly regarded efforts surrounding Super Bowl 46. Host Committee CEO Allison Melangton says a "full community evaluation" is needed before any decision is made.
River Ridge deal could mean major tenant
Signs are pointing to a major tenant coming to the River Ridge Commerce Center in Jeffersonville. The River Ridge Development Authority says it has approved a site plan from KTR Capital Partners for a 1 million-square-foot building. The announcement comes after reports that online retailer Amazon.com Inc. is considering a southern Indiana site for a new distribution center.
Sony DADC closing Indiana operation
Sony DADC is closing a CD distribution facility in Fishers. In an email to Inside INdiana Business, the company says the move will affect nearly 250 workers. Sony DADC blames the decision on the economy and "current competitive landscape."
Eiteljorg sets attendance record
An Indianapolis attraction is coming off a record year. The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art says more than 141,000 people went through its doors last year, a 6 percent increase from 2010.
Notre Dame announces tuition hike
The University of Notre Dame says undergraduate tuition for the upcoming academic year will increase 3.8 percent. The school implemented the same hike in each of the last two years. The latest increase comes after a university committee identified more than $30 million to re-direct to "top institutional priorities."
Horizon to acquire Heartland Community Bank
Michigan City-based Horizon Bancorp is acquiring another Indiana bank. The deal for Franklin-based Heartland Bancshares Inc. is expected to give Horizon a strong foothold in central Indiana.
Fair housing efforts receive funding
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded nearly $475,000 to several Indiana organizations for fair housing initiatives.
The organization says the funding is part of $7.5 million being distributed throughout the country.
Health exchange expanding capacity
The Indiana Health Information Exchange has announced a partnership with AT&T Inc. to help more hospitals connect to the system. The electronic health records initiative will use the communications company's technology to help with data integration capacity.
IUPUI looking to fill leadership position
IUPUI is conducting a nationwide search for a new executive vice chancellor and dean of the faculties. The school says the person who fills the position will serve as the chief academic officer and chief operating officer of the Indianapolis campus.
Public broadcaster joins national graduation drive
WFYI Public Media in Indianapolis is participating in a national partnership with other public broadcasters, schools and community organizations designed to increase high school graduation rates.
"American Graduate: Let's Make It Happen" will focus on dropout prevention and recovery strategies.
