'Tremendous Growth' Leads to Big Investment

ChaCha Secures $14 Million

Carmel-based ChaCha says it has completed a $14 million round of funding. Chief Executive Officer Scott Jones says the money will "fuel further growth" and help fund a new mobile phone application to be released later this year. Jones says the question and answer site's monthly visits have more than doubled over the past year, and he expects a similar increase in 2013. He believes the online answers industry has plenty of room to grow.

 

Work Begins on $14 Million Health Center

Crews have broken ground on a $14.4 million health center in Avon. Wellbrooke of Avon developers say the project will bring up to 100 full-time jobs and as many as 300 construction jobs to the area.

 

Hoosier Momma Announces 'Super' Agreement

For the second straight year, an Indiana cocktail drink mix maker will be featured at a Super Bowl event. Brownsburg-based Hoosier Momma LLC says its Bloody Mary mix will be served at the National Football League's official tailgate party this weekend in New Orleans.

 

Old National Posts Highest Profit in Decade

Evansville-based Old National Bancorp is reporting full-year fiscal 2012 net income of $91.7 million, compared to $72.5 million for the same period one year earlier. Chief Executive Officer Bob Jones credits recent acquisitions and organic loan growth for the company's highest net income "in a decade."

 

Aurora Casket Co. Set For National Spotlight

A southeast Indiana business will be highlighted on national television. A CNBC documentary called "Death: It's a Living," slated to premiere Thursday, will feature a factory tour of Aurora Casket Co. and follow one of its traveling casket salesmen.

 

Indy Plans Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard has announced details of a partnership to purchase and install electric charging stations for city vehicles. The deal calls for Indianapolis Power & Light Co. to install more than two dozen stations at three locations as the city aims to transition its fleet to alternative forms of energy by 2025. Hamilton Center Inc. has joined the Better Health Wabash Valley initiative. The behavioral health system serves 10 counties in central and west central Indiana.

 

First Merchants 2012 Profit Soars

Muncie-based First Merchants Corp. is reporting full-year 2012 net income of $40.6 million, compared to $9 million in 2011. Chief Executive Officer Mike Rechin says loan growth and the acquisition of SCB Bank in Shelby County helped boost the bottom line.
