Ticket sales reflect demand

The general manager of Indiana's new North American Soccer League franchise says the sport's growth in the state is the result of "years of legwork" by Millennial fans. Peter Wilt says the team has already sold nearly 1,100 season tickets for 2014. Wilt and Major League Soccer Chief Marketing Officer Mark Handler discussed the growth of the sport during an interview on Inside INdiana Business Television.

 

Kelsay to join Dow AgroSciences

Former Indiana Director of Agriculture Joe Kelsay is joining Indianapolis-based Dow AgroSciences LLC. The biotech company says Kelsay will serve as senior manager for biotechnology affairs on its Global Regulatory and Government Affairs Team.

 

Community opens Speedway Pavilion

The ongoing redevelopment effort in Speedway is hitting another milestone. Community Health Network is opening a new health pavilion today in the area surrounding the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The health care provider says the facility increases access for area residents and employers.

 

Economic organization continues TAP support

A southern Indiana economic group is continuing to support the Purdue University Technical Assistance Program. Dubois Strong says its staff will transfer $50,000 worth of financial support as part of an annual commitment to TAP's efforts in the area. The organization says a partnership that also includes Vincennes University had a nearly $35 million economic impact in the county between 2007 and 2012.

 

Green BEAN enters new market

Indianapolis-based Green BEAN Delivery continues to expand. The home-delivery grocery company says it is entering the St. Louis market. It is Green BEAN's first foray into Missouri and follows a recent expansion into Lexington, Ky.

 

Purdue Expert: Pork profits 'on the horizon'

A Purdue Extension agricultural economist says pork producers may be seeing a light at the end of the tunnel after several months of drought-related losses. Chris Hurt says reduced production costs and strong export markets could return producers to profitability in the spring.

IU South Bend names chancellor finalists

Indiana University South Bend has announced four finalists in its hunt for a new chancellor. They include leaders from Illinois, New York, Ohio and New Jersey. Their campus visits begin this week.

 

Frankfort mayor initiates youth jobs program

Frankfort Mayor Chris McBarnes is launching a youth jobs program. The career shadowing and lecture series initiative will focus on connecting high school juniors and seniors with area businesses.

 

Equity firm acquires Indiana manufacturer

A New York private equity firm has acquired Indianapolis-based tooling supplier Techniks Inc. Tenex Capital Management has merged Techniks with Jasper-based Nap Gladu, which the firm also owns.

 

Technology Center director joins private company

An intranet content management company has hired a former director of the Purdue Technology Center of Indianapolis. Six Feet Up Inc. says Jim Bartek is serving as director of marketing. During his time at the center, Bartek helped organize Startup Weekend Indianapolis and the Hoosier Healthcare Innovation Challenge.

 

Report: Indiana Beach behind on taxes

A Hoosier attraction has reportedly racked up thousands of dollars in unpaid taxes. The Journal Courier in Lafayette reports the owners of Monticello-based Indiana Beach Amusement Resort have not paid an estimated $347,000 to White County.
