With Jaguar, where you sit depends on where you stand.

The British brand’s flagship Jaguar XJ ushers new customer appeal with a Portfolio model that offers a “L” body style priced at $80,700, with a five-inch longer wheelbase and rear doors that measure 45 inches wide for limo-like entry to the cabin.

Abundant legroom and opulent comfort became the benefactors of the extended length with reclining heated and cooled front and back seats. Forward seats come with lumbar support and massage feature standard.

“Jaguar is a low volume brand that is much more exclusive than its competition,” says Jim Wolff, Jaguar sales manager for Napleton Auto Werks in Schererville. “Jaguar XJ has enjoyed considerable conquest sales from other premium brands bought by luxury buyers who aspire to owning a Jaguar.”

According to J.D. Power and Associates 2012 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, Jaguar ranks second among nameplates in vehicle appeal industry wide.

The APEAL study examines how gratifying a new vehicle is to own and drive based on owner evaluations of more than 80 vehicle attributes measuring satisfaction and how much a customer likes or dislikes virtually every aspect of their vehicle.

For the second year in a row, Jaguar ranks second out of 34 brands measured in the industry – with the Jaguar XJ scoring second highest in the large premium car segment.

“The J.D. Power and Associates study indicates how much customers like their vehicle’s design, performance and features. Clearly our customers are smitten,” says Andy Goss, president of Jaguar Land Rover North America LLC.

Jaguar is the second most improved nameplate gained by the Jaguar XJ with 901 points – one of only three models to score above 900 and tied for second highest in the U.S auto industry in the J.D. Power and Associates 2012 Initial Quality Study.

The rear-wheel drive 2012 Jaguar XJ and XJL luxury sedans are powered by a base 385 horsepower V8 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission for fuel economy of 15 miles per gallon/city and 22 mpg/highway.

Jaguar XJ series also is available with a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine and sport-tuned version that generates 470 and 510 horsepower respectively.

This December, Jaguar will debut its first all-wheel drivetrain to the XJ lineup.

Jaguar buyers looking for more bang for their buck and even greater driving dynamics may opt for the limited edition 2012 Jaguar XKR-S coupe or convertible that hammers 550 horsepower from a supercharged 5-liter V8 powerplant. Base price nails $132,000 a copy.

Jaguar builds all their cars exclusively in the United Kingdom at the Castle Bromwich manufacturing plant.
