Restaurant to host fundraiser
SCHERERVILLE | A fundraiser that will benefit an Illinois children's hospital is set for Sunday at Schoop's, 136 U.S. 30.
A portion of proceeds generated by those who dine at the hamburger restaurant between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. will be donated to the Pediatric Rehabilitation and Development Department at Advocate Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn.
The fundraiser is being organized by the family of Gage Webber, a Schererville boy born July 11, 2011, with pulmonary atresia, a congenital heart disease in which the pulmonary valve is closed. His life-saving open heart procedure took place at the children's hospital, and the family wants to give back to the cardiac department by organizing the fundraiser.
