HIGHLAND | The Smart Patient Fair, which will feature information on health issues, is scheduled for April 2 at the Wicker Park Social Center, 8554 Indianapolis Blvd.

The free event will last from 3-7 p.m. and is hosted by the Northwest Indiana Patient Safety Coalition, Lake Area United Way, North Township Trustee Frank Mrvan and the honor society of nursing Sigma Theta Tau International, Mu Omega Chapter.

“This program is designed to provide valuable information to the public about how to stay safe and well, either at home or in the hospital,” said Joan Dorman, clinical associate professor of nursing at Purdue University Calumet in Hammond.

There will be information tables concentrating on cancer care, wound care, hospice, nutrition, diabetes, heart attack and stroke, pediatric concerns, medication safety, infection prevention and more.
