CROWN POINT| Franciscan Alliance hosted an information session Monday to help people navigate findings of the Community Health Needs Assessment and better meet resident needs.
John Whitcomb, strategic adviser for Franciscan Alliance, led the group of about 15 people through the basics of the assessment, explaining where to find certain data and how to search within specific geographic areas.
The assessment, known as CHNA, resulted from a collaboration among Community Healthcare System, Methodist Hospitals and Franciscan Alliance, to gauge the health needs of Northwest Indiana residents. Community assessments are required by the Affordable Care Act and the IRS.
Cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer ranked among the top health concerns in the region, according to recent findings.
