GARY | Methodist Hospitals was ranked as one of the best in Indiana, northern Indiana and the Chicago metro area for 2013-14 in a U.S. News & World Report annual list of top hospitals.
“We are very proud to be recognized among the best hospitals in our region by this prestigious publication," hospital President and CEO Ian McFadden said in a news release. "This achievement is a reflection of our commitment to being Northwest Indiana’s leader in specialty care.”
Methodist was ranked No. 13 in Indiana and No. 30 in the Chicago metro area. It was recognized as high performing in the areas of neurology and neurosurgery.
The magazine has ranked hospitals for 24 years. It evaluates them in 16 adult specialties.
“Only about 15 percent of hospitals are recognized for their high performance as among their region’s best," said Avery Comarow, U.S. News Health Rankings editor, in a news release. "Just 3 percent of all hospitals earn a national ranking in any specialty.”
The rankings are available at http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals and will appear in print in the U.S. News Best Hospitals 2014 guidebook, available Aug. 27.
