HIGHLAND | A new urgent care center opened recently in the Region, another in a growing trend of walk-in health care service.
Physicians Urgent Care, 10343 Indianapolis Blvd., is a 3,300 square-foot clinic. It is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on weekends.
The clinic is equipped with X-ray capability, lab testing and seven exam rooms, including a pediatric room and trauma room, for treating non-life threatening injuries and illnesses and for performing minor surgical procedures.
“Questions about health concerns can create a lot of anxiety," said Dr. Nicholas Apostolopoulos, on-site physician at the center. “Some injuries and illnesses just can’t wait. When someone in Highland can’t get into their family doctor and it isn’t severe enough for the ER, we’re here to help.”
The Highland location is the fifth Physicians Urgent Care clinic added this year in Indiana.
Patients can go online and check visitphysicians.com/highland to see current wait times and to check in online before arriving. They also can learn more about the staff and see which insurance is accepted.
For Lake County residents who are uninsured, Physicians Urgent Care publishes a three-tiered pricing plan online with set rates so patients know what to expect.
Urgent care and immediate care centers are often places people turn when their doctor's office is closed or full but the illness is not serious enough to warrant emergency care.
