SCHERERVILLE | A Schererville native has returned to his home town to open a private optometry practice.

Dr. Daniel Zych, a 1999 graduate of Lake Central High School, went on to graduate from Purdue University and the Indiana University School of Optometry.

After working as an associate at practices for six years, he opened his own office Aug. 1 at 8025 Wicker Ave., Unit H.

A married father of two boys, Zych chose to set up shop in the Region so he could be close to family. He still keeps some hours part-time in LaPorte and Plymouth.

His Schererville office provides all optometry services, with Zych having a hand in the whole process.

The St. John resident donates 10 percent of contact lens sales to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana.

His Schererville office is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays, noon-7 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday hours are by appointment only.
