Union says employer failed to make pension fund payments

HAMMOND | The Teamsters are suing a region company over an alleged failure to contribute to a pension trust fund, federal court records show.

Trustees of the Teamsters Union No. 142 Pension Trust filed a civil lawsuit last week in Hammond federal court against IB&B LLC. IB&B does business in the area as Illiana Block & Brick Inc., Critser Companies Inc. and Gary Material Supply LLC, according to the lawsuit.

The Teamsters argue IB&B violated its collective bargaining agreement by failing to make required payments into a union workers' pension trust fund.

The company did not return a call from The Times seeking comment Tuesday.
