INDIANAPOLIS | Andy Miller, Commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, announced that BMV license branches in Dubois, Franklin, Lake, LaPorte, Marion, Perry, Porter, Ripley, St. Joseph and Wells counties will extend hours Nov. 2 and 3 to issue state identification cards and driver's licenses that may be needed for identification when voting.
Full service license branches, normally closed on Mondays, will be open on from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 2. Branches will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 3.
The Indiana BMV provides free, state-issued ID cards for voting purposes to any unlicensed Hoosier, as long as he or she can provide proper documentation and is old enough to vote. The following documents are required to obtain a state identification card or driver's license (a complete list can be found at www.mybmv.IN.gov.):
-- A primary document, such as a birth certificate or passport.
-- A secondary document, such as a pay check stub or a signed credit card.
-- Proof of residency, such as a utility bill.
All license branches will resume regular business hours Nov. 4.
