Financial analysts estimate third quarter earnings for ArcelorMittal could be down 46 percent from a year ago.
Luxembourg-based ArcelorMittal released the consensus estimate Monday from 20 analysts who track the company's activities. They estimated the company could have earnings of $1.3 billion before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, or EBITDA.
The company had EBITDA of more than $2.4 billion in the third quarter of 2011 and a profit of $659 million, or 43 cents per share.
The company reports its third quarter financial results Oct. 31.
Locally, ArcelorMittal has operations in Burns Harbor, East Chicago, Gary, and Riverdale and joint venture facilities in New Carlisle.
