The annual Build Indiana Summit at the Avalon Manor, in Hobart, on Thursday will feature reports on key transportation projects such as the Gary/Chicago International Airport and the Illiana Expressway.
Indiana Secretary of Commerce Mitchell Roob will give the keynote address, discussing the advantages for business in Northwest Indiana and the state as a whole. Roob is also CEO of the Indiana Economic Development Corp., a state agency.
The unveiling of the Landrum & Brown business and strategic plan for the Gary airport will be one of the highlights of the morning event, which runs from 7 a.m. to noon. Welcoming remarks begin at 7:50 a.m.
Newly installed Gary/Chicago International Airport Authority President Nate Williams and Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority Chairman Leigh Morris will discuss the Landrum & Brown report.
A panel discussion on the Illiana Expressway will include Ed Paesel of the Chicago Southland Economic Development Corp.; Indiana State Rep. Ed Soliday; Northwest Indiana Forum interim CEO Mark Maassel; and Northwest Indiana Regional Planning Commission Executive Director John Swanson.
Developments in logistics and real estate will also be a key part of the summit.
