Terre Haute company under investigation
A wastewater treatment facility in Terre Haute is the subject of an investigation by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The Terre Haute Tribune-Star reports that officials have conducted an initial search of Wabash Environmental Technology and a return visit is scheduled for next month.
Notre Dame students donate to Uganda
A University of Notre Dame student club has raised $35,000 to help build a school in Uganda. ND-8 will provide the funds for the Building Tomorrow organization, which will construct the school to serve 350 children. Two ND-8 members will also work as interns with Building Tomorrow in Uganda this summer.
Winner announced in Incubicity contest
A Purdue University Research Foundation technology manager in West Lafayette has been announced as the winner of Incubicity, an entrepreneurship competition aimed at boosting economic development by championing local ideas. Shane Fimbel is developing an idea for technology that would allow neonatal intensive care doctors to monitor a fetus' blood pressure using transmitted light instead of a catheter.
New Resort Opens in Orange County
A new option is available to visitors looking to stay in Orange County. A Big Log Cabin in the Clouds was reconstructed from a log cabin built in 1863. It is located on a 120-acre nature preserve near French Lick Resort Casino. It is owned by Carl and Terri Pryor, who also operate A Little Log Cabin in the Woods and Blue Prairie Bed and Breakfast.
NCAA, Ticketmaster targets of lawsuit
A class-action lawsuit has been filed against the Indianapolis-headquartered National Collegiate Athletic Association and Ticketmaster. The organizations are accused of setting up what amounts to an illegal lottery system for the right to purchase tickets to high-profile events. The lawsuit centers on the systems for buying tickets to early-round NCAA tournament contests and the Final Four.
